How do I view my results?

  1. Login to iHealthSpace as usual.
  2. From your home page, select "Check my results" from your Quick List. You may also access your results by clicking on "Chart" and then selecting "Results".

Why are some of my results not available online?

Common results are available online through iHealthSpace. Based on recommendations from clinical leaders, the Partners Clinical Content Committee approves each result offered online. Results may not be released for a variety of reasons:

  • Legal restrictions. For example, Massachusetts state law requires counseling from a physician before a diagnostic HIV test result is shared with a patient.
  • Clinical practice requirements. For example, most genetic test results require counseling and review with your physician or nurse is needed for test interpretation.
  • Incompatible format. Some results, such as sleep study reports, are not stored in a way that is accessible to us.
  • Pending review. Some results are not shown because the committee that approves release has not yet reviewed them.

A result or report that is not shown in iHealthSpace can be requested through your doctor's office. Letters from your physician or nurse are also available in the Results Viewer and may address results that do not otherwise appear. If you expect to see a result or a report, but don't see it in iHealthSpace, just send us Feedback and we'll help you look into it!

I don't understand some of my test results.

We have links to online resources that can get you started. If you still have questions, then you should direct your questions to the care team who ordered your test.

What are result tags?

Tags are a way for you to label things in iHealthSpace. For now, only results are "tagged" or labeled with their result "type" (e.g. "radiology", "blood", etc.). If you would like to filter your results by a specific result type, then select the appropriate category to display this filtered view.

When will my test results be made available to me through iHealthSpace?

The release of test results through iHealthSpace is governed by each practice's policies:

If you are a patient in the Internal Medicine Associates (IMA): Most of your blood or urine test results will be released within 48 hours after the results are finalized. Some rare tests may take up to 30 days or may not be released in accordance with Partners policies. Results from radiology, cardiology (heart), and endoscopy (stomach, colon) tests will be available five days after the results are completed. Pathology test reports will be released 2 weeks from the time that the results are finalized. This initial policy has been set in order to give your providers time to evaluate and respond to test results as they come in.

If you are a patient in the Ambulatory Practice of the Future (APF): All your test results will be immediately released when finalized.

If you are a patient in the MGH Transplant Center: All your results will be me made available to you in 96 hours after they are finalized. Pathology results are not released by the MGH Transplant Center.

If you belong to more than one of the above practices, iHealthSpace will release results according to the more/most liberal policies.

Note For All:Please keep in mind that the 'timer' begins from the time the test result is reported-- not when the test was performed. For example, if you had a blood test drawn on May 1st and was resulted on May 3rd, the result would be available to you on May 5th, or 2 days after the test was reported. Most tests take a day or two to be analyzed or interpreted, but in some cases, this may take as long as a few weeks.

Tests performed outside of the Mass General, but within the Partners network are made available to you through iHealthSpace. However, please note that due to the differences in the way that results are stored and managed, release of labs performed outside of the Mass General may be delayed by a few days. If you have any question about a particular result, please send us Feedback.

If your provider reviews your results sooner and should write a letter to you, this letter will be made available to you through iHealthSpace immediately through the Results Viewer. If your results require immediate attention, then your doctor or nurse will contact you by phone.

If you have any questions about this, please send us your question using the Feedback link.

How far back can I see my test results?

For starters, we have made test results from the last two years available to you through iHealthSpace.

What kinds of test results will I be able to view?

You will be able to access results performed across the Partners Healthcare System. Tests performed outside of Partners are not yet available through iHealthSpace. Please note that due to the differences in the way that results are stored and managed, there may be some delay in the release of labs performed outside of the Mass General. If you have any question about a particular result, please send us Feedback.

What kinds of test results won't I see?

There are a number of rare blood and urine tests that are not currently released in accordance with Partner's policy. Records older than 2 years are also not released at this time, however if you click on a specific lab test, you will be able to see the complete history of this lab test. We do try to make available most other types of test results; however, there may be an occasional instance when we may have missed something - in which case, please let us know using the Feedback link.

I'd like to get my results sooner - what can I do?

Your provider will be reviewing your results as they become available and will reach out to you individually as he or she usually does. If you'd like your routine results sooner that what we deliver through iHealthSpace and you did not yet receive a letter from your provider regarding these results, the practices request your patience.

What does 'pending' mean?

When you see 'pending' next to your result, this means that your test is still being processed.

What does 'pending (available in x hours)' mean?

When you see 'pending (available in x hours)' next to your result, this means that your test has been processed, but has not yet been made available online yet in accordance with your practice's policies.

I've had tests done outside of the Partners institutions - where can I find these results?

At this time, results of tests performed at hospitals and facilities outside of Partners are not available electronically through iHealthSpace. Outside test results are generally forwarded to your providers by mail or fax. As a rule of thumb though, when you have labs or tests done at outside hospitals, it's a good idea to check in with the office within a reasonable period to make sure the results were received and reviewed.
